Alexander Snyder Obituary

Alexander Snyder, originally of Philadelphia and longtime resident of South Jersey, peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was 83 years old and most recently of Maple Shade.

Loving father of Alexander Snyder, Jr. (Janet) of Medford Lakes, Frederick Snyder of Shamong, Michael Snyder of Shamong, Kevin Snyder (Kerry) of Norton, MA, the late Britta Snyder, and Caitlin Frazer of Mt. Laurel. Loving stepfather of April McShane (née Kavan) of Blackwood. Beloved Pop-Pop and Poppi to Abigaile, Erin, Anna, Declan, Hailey, Lily, Ava, Madelyn, and Jameson. The only son and eldest child of the late Frederick P. Snyder and the late Virginia Zlatkus (McMullen), and stepson of the late John Zlatkus. Dear brother of Maryann Sokolouski of Deptford, John Zlatkus (Connie) of Graham, WA, and the late Ginny Zlatkus. Husband of Barbara (née Schmidt) of Maple Shade since 1990.

Alexander was born on December 2, 1940, in Philadelphia. He graduated from Bok Vocational Technical School in 1958 and married his first wife Regina Snyder (née Johnson) in 1962. He was a skilled draftsman and businessman and spent his career of over 50 years in the electrical supply and electrical contracting industries. “Big Al” loved taking his family to the Jersey Shore – fishing in the bay, walking the boards, and eating frozen custard. He was a passionate Philly sports fan – especially the Eagles and Flyers. He coached youth football in Philadelphia, youth baseball in Shamong, and youth soccer in Cherry Hill. He loved to laugh and make people laugh, two qualities he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Dad, “Big Al,” Pop-Pop, and Poppi will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
